The 49er's extended their unlikely season with a last minute touchdown to beat the Saints 36-32. Meanwhile in Foxhaven the Bronco's luck  finally ran out. January 8, 2012

Tim Tebow passed for 316 yards including an 80 yard strike on the first play of overtimes to lead the Denver Broncos to a 29-23 overtime victory over the Pittsburg Steelers. For the first time all season the Broncos turned the unorthodox quarterback loose and he didn't disappoint. Tebow led the Broncos to there first overtime victory since John Elway's legendary drive against the Browns in 1986.

How the BCS bowls should look and who would win

Mike Shaner
12-4-2011

I know some of these games can't happen but they should.

BCS Championship game:
Alabama vs LSU

I know there are many who don't want to see a rematch but these are the two best teams and they should be playing for the championship. Alabama 21-LSU 13

Fiesta Bowl:
Oklahoma State vs Stanford

If the Cowboys were to play Alabama or LSU they would lose 42-17. Stanford is not Bama or LSU. It takes a defense to beat the cowboys and Stanford doesn't have one. Cowboys 42-34

Orange Bowl:
Oregon vs Arkansas

It's a shootout but the razorbacks have been conditioned in the SEC. Arky 38-28

Rose Bowl:
Boise State vs Wisconsin:
The Broncos don't lose these games. Boise St. 50-49

Sugar Bowl:
South Carolina vs Kansas State
K-state hasn't seen anything like an SEC defense and the gamecocks would love to see a big 12 defense. USC-24-3

Tebow is better than good. He's a winner

12-4-2011

Denver Bronco's qb Tim Tebow led another heroic comeback today completing 10 of 15 passes for 2 TD's and 0 interceptions. The Broncos kicked a last second FG to beat the vikings 35-32. There were no gimmicks to hold against him. The defense gave up over 30 points, so they can't get all the credit, today was Tebow's day.  He ended the game with only 4 rushes for 12 yards. He won it with his arm. If not for a few drops he may well have completed all but the one pass he threw away.

Think of how far this team has come. In October they were racing for the worst record in the league and the opportunity to draft Andrew Luck; Enter Tim Tebow and the team is tied for first in the AFC west and controls it's own playoff destiny. Tebow hasn't always been pretty. That's an understatement, at time's he's been downright ugly but i'd take an ugly winner over a pretty loss (see Cam Newton) any day.

Let there be no mistake this is a team game.  The entire roster deserves the credit and Tebow couldn't have done this on his own but ask yourself this: What is the only difference in this team from it's hapless beginning until now? The Answer: Superman. Anyone who claims a Heisman trophy winner first round draft pick like Tebow isn't good simply has an axe to grind but Tebow is better than good; He's a winner.

Report: Marve, others granted immunity to be NCAA informants

CORAL GABLES — Wonder why Robert Marve and Arthur Brown — former UM players who’ve since transferred — and former UM recruits Bryce Brown, Matt Patchan, Orson Charles and Andre Debose were cleared by the NCAA so quickly after former booster Nevin Shapiro implicated them, yet the 12 current ‘Canes named in the Yahoo! Sports report haven’t been cleared?
According to a CBSSports.com report, it’s because all of them have received “limited immunity” from the NCAA, essentially becoming informants against UM in exchange for avoiding punishment themselves. Full Story

Marcos Ambrose wins Watkins Glen shootout

By Mike Shaner:

Marcos Ambrose earned his first Sprint Cup victory today at Watkins Glen. The race was postponed from Sunday due to rain and was well worth the wait. It had the feeling and excitement of an old western shoot-out.  This is exactly what NASCAR needs. Look for more on this later, after I've had a chance to catch my breath!
